ANGLO-SAXON HISTORY: A Select Bibliography
http://www.wmich.edu/medieval/rawl/keynes1/home.htm
This bibliography is intended to serve as a general guide to the primary and secondary sources for the study of Anglo-Saxon history...Section A is for general guidance. Section B provides a rough classification of the primary sources for our knowledge of Anglo-Saxon history. The aim is to indicate the range of the source material at our disposal, and (in the case of written texts) to guide the reader towards the most accessible editions and translations. The rest of the bibliography comprises references organized under broad historical themes. The coverage is by no means comprehensive, but within its own terms the choice of reading should serve as a guide to the main areas of interest and debate. It should be noted that the numbering of the entries is deliberately discontinuous, to allow for further expansion." (cit. dal web propr.)

DIGITAL CATALOGUE OF ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS
http://prodigi.bl.uk/illcat/introduction.asp
"The Digital Catalogue of Illuminated Manuscripts is an ambitious project
to present a searchable illustrated catalogue on the internet of all the
western illuminated manuscripts in the British Library. For the
purposes of the Catalogue, illumination is considered to include all pictorial
and decorative embellishment that illuminates, enhances, or articulates
the text, from fully painted miniatures to decorated initials. By including
such a wide range of material we hope to provide a useful resource for
those working in a variety of disciplines, and also to show the Library's
most celebrated illuminated manuscripts in the context of their lesser-known
contemporaries.
At present, there are approximately 200 manuscripts on this website.
Over time, this number will grow to some 9,500 manuscripts. The Catalogue,
when complete, will include:
-all British Library manuscripts made before c.1600 with decoration,
including decorated initials, significant pen flourishing and non-representational
embellishment, and illumination (excluding, with some significant exceptions,
rolls and charters)
-illuminated manuscripts dating from after c.1600 to the present day
with particular relevance to the continuing traditions of manuscript illumination,
including calligraphy, artwork and handmade facsimiles
-at least one image from every manuscript
-the number of images will continue to grow over time. " (cit. dal

MALVINE - Online search service for post-medieval manuscripts
"MALVINE commenced in 1998 as an EU-Project co-funded within the 4th
Framework Program "Telematics for Libraries". Project funding has now ended
and MALVINE is organised and maintained by the MALVINE Maintenance Agency,
located at Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz,
and an independent consortium of libraries, archives and museums.
MALVINE offers new and enhanced access to holdings of post-medieval
manuscripts and letters, kept and catalogued in European libraries, archives,
documentation centres and museums. MALVINE's aim is to build a growing
network of these institutions in Europe; a network which is independent
of the heterogeneous technical solutions employed locally and is accessible
from all over the world via Web based technologies. Although MALVINE
searches across local institutions, the researcher will have access to
a system with the functionality and features of a unified database. MALVINE
not only provides improved access to modern manuscripts in Europe, but
also enhances the data exchange between heterogeneous systems. It is to
be hoped that the technical interoperability will have a harmonising effect
on local cataloguing practices. " (cit. dal web propr.)

DANA-WH - Digital Archive Network for Anthropology and World Heritage
"The Digital Archive Network for Anthropology and World Heritage is designed to function as a federation of distributed, interoperable databases, each with specific content of value to the study and preservation of human heritage, both cultural and biological. The project spans the disciplines of archaeology, biological anthropology, ethnography, and linguistics, although it is anticipated that it will also benefit other scholars in the humanities looking at aspects of human heritage. The scale of the project suggests that it may be some time before it is completed. As of August 2003, the archive was limited to archaeological collections from North Dakota State University (where the project is based), with the Biological Anthropology Collection under development. The databases contain text, 2D images, and precise 3D recreations of artefacts. These are apparently detailed enough to allow online measurements to be made of the 'surrogate' object. Software for displaying the various types of image may be downloaded from the web site. The web site also contains a tutorial and a message board. The project has the potential to become a valuable resource." (cit. da Humbul)

PORPHYROGENITUS PROJECT (Greek Palæography)
http://www1.rhbnc.ac.uk/hellenic-institute/Porphyrogenitus/index.html
"The Porphyrogenitus Project involves the compilation of a Lexicon of
Abbreviations & Ligatures in Greek Minuscule Hands (ca. 8th century
to ca. 1600). Greek Palæography has never had its Cappelli (Dizionario
di Abbreviature latine ed italiane), making it difficult and often impossible
for classicists and mediævalists to have access to the content of
manuscripts. The aim of this project is to make good this deficiency by
incorporating as full a number of abbreviations and ligatures as possible,
so that it becomes a useful aid to students and scholars.
The material comes from manuscripts housed in major libraries in Europe
and the United States, and covers a variety of subjects from literature,
music, law and notarial documents to mathematics, physics & alchemy,
astronomy & astrology, weights & measures, and medicine among others,
as well as tachygraphy, cryptography, monocondyliae and abbreviations and
ligatures in early printed books." (cit. dal web propr.)

WARA - World Archive of Rock Art
http://cronus.spaceports.com/~wara/italianweb/indexi.htm

WWW-VL EUI - European History Project
"The Central Catalogue of the Network is located at the University of
Kansas...The Central Catalogue provides direct links to network sites through
its index and maintains a large number of files of pointers for countries,
periods, and subject for which there is not yet a member site. Network
sites will increasingly supplement their own indexes by linking to appropriate
sections of other member sites.
The History Network collectively and its member sites individually,
are members of WWW-VL, and each maintainer
of a network site is a virtual librarian of WWW- VL. All maintainers are
therefore equal, and decisions are reached through discussion and mutual
agreement, although this does not preclude the possibility that the members
may choose a more formal organization in the future. The History Network
intends to decide what sites and maintainers it will integrate and to endorse
the acceptance by WWW-VL of those sites and individuals it invites to participate.
Beyond that, the members of the Network hope to govern their own activities,
but to adhere to the standards of WWW-VL and to participate in that organization
as actively and as fully as possible. It is our hope that WWW-VL as a whole
will adopt the organization being developed by the History Network and
become federal in structure with the History Network only one of a number
of cooperating networks...
...Such sites may consist of indexes for countries, aeras, or topics
already listed on the Central Catalogue or new ones to be added to the
Central Catalogue's listings...Although the Network will be serving the
general public, maintainers should attempt to establish standards of coverage
and selectivity that will make their sites effective tools for practicing
historians wishing to work on-line." (cit. dal web propr.)

FOUNDATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SEPHARDIC STUDIES AND CULTURE
http://www.sephardicstudies.org/
"For nearly 40 years the Foundation has been dedicated to preserving
and promoting the complex and centuries-old culture of the Sephardic communities
of Turkey, Greece, the Balkans, Europe and the U.S. Emigration, and the
devastation of the Holocaust, have combined to weaken historic communities
which had resisted assimilation, where Ladino, the Sephardic language,
was used continuously and unique cultural traditions were practiced.
As the new millennia opens, the Foundation seeks to vigorously renew
and preserve the heritage and culture of our ancestors. With extensive
archives gathered over the decades from numerous sources, including early
leaders of the Sephardic communities, the Foundation has been able to produce,
support and enrich numerous research projects and published works. Local
community and organization events are sponsored and new documentaries and
presentations on Sephardic life and culture are prepared and exhibited
across the country. Older publications are being reissued in English, and
new works continue to be published, including a series of memorial volumes
dedicated to Sephardic communities and cultures destroyed in the Holocaust.
The long list of publications, presentations and exhibitions attest to
the enrichment of Spanish Jewish culture in our times.
Thus, the mission of the Foundation for the Advancement of Sephardic
Studies and Culture remains essentially the same some four decades after
its founding: To encourage the appreciation and understanding of the Sephardic
heritage, language and experience, in an effort to preserve and document
it for future generations, before it disappears forever." (cit. dal web

L' ANCIEN FRANÇAIS SUR L' INTERNET
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/8716/index-fr.html
"Cette page a été conçue pour vous fournir des
informations sur l'ancien français, sa langue et sa littérature.
L'ère auquel nous faisons référence par l'usage "ancien
français" remonte à l'an 842 (date des "Serments de Strasbourg",
le plus ancien document que nous possédons écrit dans cette
langue vernaculaire en plein essor) jusqu'en 1400 environ (période
où le système de déclinaisons avait déjà
commence à disparaître de la littérature). Or, "Ancien

monastic, private, museum and library collections in 21 countries are used
by scholars from all over the world. The collection includes more than
5000 Cyrillic manuscripts on microform, with over 1200 from different monasteries
on Mount Athos, Greece, including the entire Slavic collection of Hilandar
Monastery, in addition to hundreds of thousands of pages of East Slavic
manuscripts from Russia and a collection of more than 700 early Slavic
printed books on microform. Many of these materials on microform are now

CENTRE FOR ASIAN AND AFRICAN LITERATURE
"Started in October 2000, the Centre aims to become a world-class locus
for comparative research on the literatures of Asia and Africa...SOAS
(School of Oriental & African Studies) has one of the largest groups
of specialists on the literatures of Asia and Africa in the world, with
about forty staff and more than sixty research students. Literature specialists
at UCL (University College London),
which includes coverage of Western and Eastern Europe, the Americas, and
the Slavonic world, complement the strengths of SOAS.
The Centre is distinctive in having a structure which demands both
interaction between scholars of Asia and Africa who are trained in the
original languages with those studying Western literature, and interaction
among the specialists of the many literatures of Asia and Africa. The Centre
will also draw together an even broader range of people through its seminar
and public lecture series." (cit. dal web propr.)

THE NEW CHILD - British art and the origins
of modern childhood, 1730-1830
"This website was designed for a past exhibition at Berkeley Art Gallery
in California. It is a valuable resource for those studying eighteenth
century culture, children's literature, and family history. The exhibition
explored the concept of family that emerged during the Georgian period,
and the concept of childhood, and the affects such a term had on society.
Organized as it would have been displayed as an exhibit, the website is
divided into nine sections each outlining certain philosophies of childhood,
family, and the portrayal of children in art. There are links to various
philosophers of the period within the text, such as John Locke and Jean
Jaques Rousseau. The images of paintings illustrate aspects of childhood,
from artists such as Sir Joshua Reynolds, Benjamin West, Arthur Devis,
John Constable, Thomas Gainsbourough, and William Hogarth." (cit. da Humbul)

VIRGINIA WOOLF - Manoscritti inediti
"A previously unpublished series of Virginia Woolf's hand-written,
mock newspaper supplements discovered in an old tin trunk is part of a
collection acquired by The British Library. The seven autograph manuscripts
are among the acquisition of 188 editions of The Charleston Bulletin and
The New Bulletin, a partly hand-written, partly typed domestic newspaper
composed by Woolf's nephews, Julian and Quentin Bell, as children.
Woolf offers a revealing and intimate view into the world of Bloomsbury
through her playful and humourous contributions to their newspaper in the
form of full-colour Christmas or Year in Review specials, written in her
favourite purple-colour ink.
The collection, owned by Quentin's widow, Mrs Olivier Bell, has remained
in family hands until now. It includes miscellaneous manuscript material
and artworks by Julian and Quentin, their parents Clive and Vanessa Bell,
and other members of the Bloomsbury group." (cit. dal web propr.)

SOCIETY FOR LYBIAN STUDIES
"The Society for Libyan Studies, founded in 1969, is established as
a British Institute Abroad, sponsored by The British Academy. Its aims
are to encourage and co-ordinate the activities of scholars working on
Libya, in Britain and elsewhere, covering as wide a range of interests
as possible including archaeology, history, linguistics and the natural
sciences, and to foster and develop relations between Libyan scholars and
those working outside Libya on Libyan subjects.
Since its foundation the Society has sponsored many differing projects
in Libya within the subject areas of archaeology, education, geography,
geology, history and Islamic law. Its resources to date have been concentrated
on supporting long-term archaeological projects and their subsequent publication,
including excavations and surveys in Cyrenaica, Tripolitania and Fezzan,
notably at present Euesperides, Cyrene, Lepcis Magna and Fezzan. In recent
years projects have included (among many others) the multi-disciplinary
survey in the pre-desert valleys of Tripolitania, the Islamic excavations
at Barca (El Merj) and Medinet Sultan, and the preparation for publication
of the post-war excavations at Sabratha and Lepcis Magna." (cit. dal web

CRIC – Coordinamento Riviste Italiane
culturali, in particolare nei circuiti educativi e dell'informazione, all'interno
del territorio nazionale e all'estero.
